English-English
Version
The English Spelling Trainer is a little program
that may well help you improve your spelling. It explains to you the relationship
between sounds and letters. All sound groups (vowels,
diphthongs, consonants, etc.) are given in categories of different
levels with Level 1 covering the easiest and most well-known words.
If you are
not used to IPA symbols, you can print out our overview
on three different
systems of phonetic transcription
IPA
symbols, Merriam-Webster's symbols, ASCII phonetics symbols.
This
is how our
Sound complex [i:]
(Level 2) looks immediately after opening.
If you cannot recognize what
English word the IPA transcription stands for, please press <Alt>
+ <g>, and you will be shown a definition or explanation of the
English word in question. Now type the word in (in this case key),
press ENTER, and a yellow smiley will
appear.
On finishing your work on a record, the computer
displays some data on the screen, informing you of your command of the
English spelling of that sound. (We have deliberately made a mistake in
the last entry.)
